Our Mission

Garden City Ministries exists to restore the Edenic vision of renewal in the Garden City—especially in Augusta’s neighborhoods affected by poverty—by meeting tangible needs, empowering local residents, and proclaiming the hope of the Kingdom of God.

We pursue this through food security initiatives, neighborhood restoration projects, community-based justice and mercy work, and deep partnerships with churches, schools, and local ministries. With every action, we seek to embody the hands and feet of Jesus and declare that His Kingdom is here and making all things new.

How We Got Started

On Ellis Street, our family set up a small charging station on the front porch with a tiny generator—just enough to power a few phones and a fan to cut the heat. What started as a simple act of hospitality quickly became something sacred. Every day, neighbors gathered to charge phones, share food, laugh, play board games, and dance together. Out of that front porch community, friendships were formed, stories were shared, and dignity was restored.

That experience changed our understanding of mercy and ministry. We learned that proximity transforms perspective, because when you sit beside someone in need, you begin to see the world through their eyes. You realize that people don’t just need handouts; they need relationship, respect, and restoration.

From that front porch, our small house church began worshiping together with our neighbors. As trust deepened, we saw both the basic and complex needs that were going unmet—needs for food, shelter, safety, and belonging.

So we founded Garden City Ministries, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to meet those tangible needs while proclaiming the hope of the Kingdom of God. Our mission is simple yet profound: to restore the Edenic vision of renewal in the Garden City—helping every person rediscover their identity as an image-bearer of God, loved and made for community.
